…. and they expect US to know and comply with the law…. but at least they’ve got it right now, after twenty years.
Finally, after more than two months of badgering them the Home Office have realised that the Fireworks (Amendement) Act of 1088 does not exist, and that the Firearms (Amendment) Act of 1988 was the legislation they meant when this was posted: yet the error remained in public for twenty years.

‘Ignorance of the law is no excuse’ Legal principle – (Ignorantia juris non excusat) Apparently that doesn’t apply to the Home Office – or perhaps it does?
On the Home Office GOV website: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/firearms-consultative-committee
‘ This independent body was established under the Fireworks (Amendment) Act 1088 with a remit to keep under review the controls on firearms, to make recommendations to the Home Secretary as to how these may be improved, and to advise him on matters which he may refer to the Committee. ’
Probably the first known reference to gunpowder in the UK was around 1242.
